Never Could Have Imagined....

12/10/2018

Its dangerous for us to think things are worse now than they have ever been. It flies in the face of what we know from scripture itself and even recent history.

With that said, for those of us who have been on this earth for greater than 50 years, especially here in the States, it does seem like the worst of times that we ourselves have seen when it comes to morality.

I would have lost a big bet if someone had challenged me on just how bad things could get from the 1980's until now, 2018. I could see some of the things like further marriage break down, the further rise and openness of homosexuality, but I could have never saw the rise of the "I identify" movement. Men who say they are a woman and vice versa isn't new, but what's shocking is society accepting it and even pushing it as "normal".

Just recently, it was news that a public school teacher was fired for not using the so-called proper name of a student. Without looking up the article for exactly what the teacher was doing, its my understanding that he wouldn't use a gender neutral name for a student. He would use "he" or "she", which for decades and centuries were and still are what should be used for the two sexes, but did not cave to pressure to do otherwise. I find that surreal not because it could never happen, just that its happened so fast.

So how can in the span of 40 years give or take, things get this wacky? No other explanation than the blindness of sin and the corruptness of the flesh to reject what God has perfectly revealed in nature as well as His Word I guess. Even so, its mind boggling that common sense is thrown out the window even by unbelievers in such a short period of time. Of course, even a quick reading of the Old T will see the rise of a good king followed by obedience and then the rise of a bad king followed by sin in short periods of time, but to actually live it, is mind numbing.

If your world view is "there is no God", it makes it much easier to fall into this trap and to see sin, corruption, and the human will as all just "nature" and if nature wants to declare itself to be what it isn't, then so be it. The big seemingly moral premise behind all of it is "we have to love everybody for who they are" etc..Sounds good on the surface, but where does it end?

While the fall of man does lead to some unexplained and difficult situations (think inter-sexed or other birth defect issues), these account for a very small % of all births. Most births produce a "male" or a "female", like they are supposed to.  I find it strange, that even if someone takes an evolutionary view of life, they (if honest), would have to admit that both male and female are compatible with making new life because of the opposite but perfectly formed sexual features that make both sexes rely on each-other for reproduction. In other words, nature itself perfectly displays two sexes and to imagine anything else defies common sense.

Time will tell where all of this leads, but without intervention from above and the church holding its ground, it will eventually lead to the downfall of what was and maybe still could be the greatest nation ever birthed with a moral, religious and even biblical foundation, but its looking grim at the moment.
